Project Management Training
Often we don't realize but we all manage or have managed projects in day-to-day life such as going a vacation trip, planning, wedding or similar events, home renovation projects etc. Project Management’s principles are not different than what you deal with a complex and large project but it requires prior experience, predefined and time tested project management processes, and not to mention the best practices and standards to follow so that a project will meet the timeline, cost and quality set out in the beginning of a project. If you are not concerned about the delivery time, cost and the quality of the end product as required by the your client, then you do not need an experienced and certified project management individual/team. But if you do then RMC can help.
RMC provides superior and professional project management consulting services primarily but not limited to the Information Technology Industry sector. RMC has also delivered a nice commercial renovation project i.e. setting up a Spa and Wellness Center in the Ottawa area.
Our Project Management Consulting service includes all aspects of planning, execution, monitoring/controlling the scope-time-cost-quality and the successful closeout of a project using the best practices and standards set by many leading and recognized project management institutions such as the Project Management Institute (www.pmi.org).
Our team includes certified, trained and experienced Project Management Professionals (PMP) who have successfully delivered numerous projects for over 25 years.
Business Analysis (BA)
No project can deliver a satisfactory product/service without understanding client’s requirements. Understanding client’s requirements can be sometime as hard as understanding the need of a baby who cannot speak but has a desire to eat a delicious food that includes several ingredients which he/she cannot describe. It then becomes the job of a good business analyst to gather, verify, document the client’s requirements supported by simulated model/prototype, resulting a set of agreed up and approved requirements. The requirements set become a key input to the development of project’s scope. With a clear set of requirements, a client can also shop around the project cost and be able to compare apple to apple. Without properly and clearly gathered and documented requirements, the estimate to do a project can often be very different as no one fully understands the end product and lot of assumptions are made.
A clear understanding of a client’s requirements is the foundation of any successful project. Projects have failed in absence of or due to presumed requirements (the “I know what my client wants because I have done it so many time” attitude). No matter how good a product or service is provided as a deliverable of a project, or how many times an individual or a company has done the same project, a project could be total failure if the end product is not designed/developed focused on the business requirements. Each client is different and has its own requirements. A perfect example would be building a custom house. No matter how many houses a seasoned builder has built, each custom house requires understanding very detailed requirements surrounded by solid process and documentation ensuring nothing is missed out.
Team RMC provides many professional services in the business analysis area. Our business analysis includes business, functional, user, and non-functional requirements elicitation, verification and ranking of requirements, development of business requirements document (BRD) and obtaining approval from the client. This is all done within the framework of the Requirements Work Plan.
The requirements elicitation process is iterative in nature and is often assisted by various tools and techniques such as test cases, UML diagrams, graphical simulation, product prototype and various design concepts. These tools are used to illustrate and completely understand the business/functional/users requirements so that the project can deliver what is required by our client. However, a business analysis, if not conducted properly, can often lead to disaster because the end product may not be as specified. Remember, the quality of a product is not about producing a best products, it is about meeting the requirements and specifications set out by the client. At RMC, we put extra effort and adhere to the best practices/fundamentals of business requirements while conducting and gathering business requirements because then the road ahead becomes an easy to ride and greatly reduces/eliminates the chances of a project being failed.
Please contact us for more details on how a RMC BA (Business Analyst) can make a difference to the business requirements elicitation, save the cost incurred towards multiple requirements analysis, or increased project cost due to rework required to deliver the desired product/services.
